The Alberta Block

The Alberta Block is singularly special because of its rich heritage as an anchor of downtown Edmonton. Built in 1909, it has been home to many businesses but it is best known as the former CKUA building. Dark hallways with shag carpet and wall-to-wall records is my fondest memory of the space before it was decommissioned as the radio station and sat empty, ready for something great to happen.

When the building was purchased in 2014, we went to work. We invested in a complete retrofitting of the building, including high efficiency elements and creative design that highlight the rich heritage of the building.

We proudly call the Alberta Block our home away from home as Homestead - a coworking space that caters to entrepreneurs who desire a space that is warm yet modern, with a community unrivalled by any other community.

The building has 6 floors of talented and flourishing businesses, including Homestead, Fu’s Repair Shop, Y-Station, Nexxt Architecture, Dualita Architecture, and so much more.

Come drop by for a visit or to work in our space for the day and see for yourself the warm environment we do our best work in.
